Route

Sunday 17th July

A long drive day today (790km) leaving Goreme at 07:00 after waking Rahkee up at 05:30 with all of us singing Happy Birthday.  We left with terry’s tent in the waste bin after the attempted repair failed – he is now going to use the spare tent until he can find a replacement.
3 short stops en route for lunch, diesel  and 2 supply breaks.  At the second break we picked up a hitch hiker and took him to the next town (3rd stop).  The scenery was very varied and we came through some stunning mountains although some of the roads were still being built!
Set up bush camp at 19:30 with a fire to cook supper on. The bush camp is not far from the Monastery which we are going to visit tomorrow and although the situation is very pretty it seems to be used as a local tip.   The scenery here is typically alpine and waking up to the sun rising over the wooded slopes is a bonus.

We are now into week 4 and for the next 10 weeks we are in uncharted territory as neither Lu or Will have been on our proposed route until we hit SE Asia.  We are about 2 days ahead of schedule and therefore we will probably add Armenia to the schedule (after Georgia), but we will take it from day to day.

Update on Truck Cluedo.  Carl was killed by Kieran (Truck keys) and Sarah by Gary (Broom).  Steady progress – 5 now dead and 5 murderers alive to do it again, but it is getting harder.
