Moving on towards Tibet (part 6)

Tuesday 13th September

Left Base Camp at 08:00 after a cold night, but somehow the cook group managed to get breakfast as normal – most people had their thermals on. We had a long drive day today only stopping for a couple of hours at lunchtime in Golmund – the last major town before Lhasa. We were there over lunch time and some of us tried Wi Fi at Dico’s (a burger bar), but it was too slow and we all gave up. The Truck and us again attracted the usual amount of attention and curiosity from the locals.

After lunch we began to climb up a pass (together with a decorated shrine) reaching 4767 m before descending slightly to 4500 m to make bush camp in the stony plateau desert. Small sleet showers developed during supper (which because of the cold most of us ate on the Truck) and then during the night.
