Route

To Luang Prabang

Saturday 1st October
Left the very confined bush camp just after 08:00 after changing one of the trucks front wheels (bad puncture last night).
After a couple of hours` on bad hilly roads we came to a small riverside town where 15 of us left the Truck and took a small public river bus to Luang Prabang (In fact there were only a couple of other passengers). the whole boat ride took about 6 hours and after dropping off the other passengers we continued down one of the tributaries of the Mekong river until the Tham Ting Caves (where we joined the Mekong). Most of us got off and looked around the caves before restarting for Luang Prabang where we arrived just after 17:00.
We then went by Tuk Tuk to the Spicy Laos Hostel where we are staying for 3 nights. When we got there Eamon, Carl & Vanessa were there to meet us as they had returned to the Truck after exploring other parts of China inc Beijing. We had some time in the evening to explore the huge market and will spend the next 2 days looking around the town.
