Nha Trang 12th October

We arrived at 05:30 after an overnight sleeper coach ride of 800 km from Hoi An which we left at 19:30 the previous evening.  Some of the rooms in the hotel were not ready, but we were put in temporary rooms until they were prepared.  The coach had 3 rows of double decker reclining couches and most of us got some sleep during the night - we stopped once at about 23:00 for refreshments.

Quite morning with most of us discovering that the beach was only 100 m away.  Nha Trang is Vietnam's premier seeside resort and has a long fine sandy beach sloping gently into the warm South China Sea.

In the afternoon I walked to the Ponagar Tower which was another religious set of buildings built by the Cham people in the 8th to 13th Century (similar to the My Son which I visited a couple of days ago 800 km to the north).  The streets and harbour near the Tower was very busy especially over the bridges over the Song Cai river.

I saw yet another wedding party on the way back, but none of them looked very happy about it at all!

Plenty of Fishing Boats in the Harbour and as usual traffic chaos.  (see below)
