Saigon 17th October

Left Mui Ne at 08:30 this morning for the drive to Saigon where we arrived at about 13:30.  5 of us are in one hotel while the other are in a nearby sister hotel, both located close to the city centre.  We apparently get Breakfast and Dinner in the Room rate - we will wait and see what we get.  One of the most noticable things on the way into the city was the existance of Christian Churches which we have not seen for a month or two.

Walked to the Ben Thanh Market with Eamon.  This huge indoor market is full of stalls selling everything you could possibly want.  The traffic in this city is absolutley crazy with so many scooters and cars - to cross the road you just have to walk and hope for the best!!

When I left the market I walked to the Independence Palace (which was closed) and I intend to go there on Wednesday morning.  Tomorrow Eamon and myself have booked to go on a full day tour to see the Cao Dai Temple in the morning followed by the Cu Chi Tunnels in the afternoon.
